Palepale CLI
Open a project, configure gateway access, choose a model, and use the terminal controls.
Get the Palepale client
Palepale is a native terminal client for working with a configured model gateway. Ask the Palepale team for the supported build and its checksum. A public download and automatic installer are not available on this website yet.
Open a project
On Windows, open a terminal in your project and run the supplied executable. The commands below assume palepale.exe is in the current directory; otherwise use its full path.
.\palepale.exe --help.\palepale.exeThe interface opens before a gateway is configured. Model requests need activated access.
Connect your gateway
Set your gateway origin without /v1. The client adds its own endpoint paths. Use the credential issued for this device.
$env:PALEPALE_API_URL = "https://YOUR_GATEWAY"$env:PALEPALE_API_KEY = "YOUR_DEVICE_CREDENTIAL".\palepale.exe models --refresh.\palepale.exe --model "REPLACE_WITH_APPROVED_MODEL_ID"Choose the exact ID from the refreshed catalog. An unknown ID is rejected. These variables apply to the current terminal session; keep the credential out of shared scripts.
Work in the terminal
- Enter sends a prompt. Ctrl+J or Shift+Enter adds a line.
- /help lists commands; /status shows your current state.
- /models opens the available model picker.
- /new starts a fresh conversation; /quit exits.
- Escape interrupts the current turn.
- Click a completed tool card to inspect its output or diff.
Permission modes
Shift+Tab cycles MANUAL, PLAN and AUTO. MANUAL uses configured permission rules. PLAN restricts writes while preparing a plan. AUTO accepts actions automatically, including actions otherwise denied by rules; choose it deliberately.
Configuration and sessions
The default state folder is ~/.palepale; PALEPALE_HOME selects another location. User settings live in config.toml. A project may have .palepale/config.toml; settings that increase permissions require trust. Sessions are saved after a backend turn begins.
Updates and connection problems
Automatic updates are off by default in the current client, and no release server is configured. Ask the team for a newer supported build. Browser pairing and automatic account creation are not part of this setup.
For model, credential or budget errors, follow troubleshooting. Keep the request ID for support and never share the device credential.
Need a hand?
Open Palepale Discord for activation or account support. Compare API offers or choose a plan.
